So it is almost time to welcome in 2017 but before we start the Hogmanay celebrations let’s have a wee look back over the last 7 days at the story of my Christmas.
I absolutely love decorating my house for Christmas. I always like to have a real Christmas tree and tend to stick to a very traditional colour scheme. This year it was mixed metals.
I did try with my gift wrapping but when you have gadzillions of parcels to wrap, it is difficult to stay motivated. I have to admit that some of my later ones were pretty basic.
For me Christmas didn’t really start until December 19th when my darling son came home from China. He has only been away for 8 months and he is wonderful at keeping in touch but I miss him horribly and a big Jack hug was all I really wanted for Christmas.
And once Jack came home, our Christmas celebrations really got underway. We lit the Space NK candles, drank copious amounts of alcohol and caught up on the last eight months of each others lives.
There were only five of us for Christmas dinner this year, my husband and I, my son and daughter, and my Mum. Obviously though I stuck with tradition and cooked enough food for 20!!!!
Before dinner we had a round of Christmas Cocktails and were each presented with our little badge. Mine said I was a Real Champagne In the Ass – which made me laugh.
I would say my piece de resistance was the champagne jelly with chambord cream decorated with edible glitter. This was the ideal dessert – it really did have the wow factor and was so tasty but was very light. Perfect after our festive feast.
After dinner we went back to the sofa and had an after dinner cocktail – aren’t the little candy cane garnishes adorable?
We then had the usual round of photographs – some better than others – and Jack taught me how Chinese girls pose!
No Christmas story would be complete without taking in a football game.
And of course a pantomime at my favourite theatre, the Kings, in Glasgow.
I hope you all had as wonderful a Christmas as I have. If you are planning a Hogmanay or New Years party, then watch out for tomorrow’s post when I will be sharing the recipe for our delicious Christmas Cocktails.
See you then, byeeee x
